Mr Whalley is a former Royal Australian Air Force fighter pilot and test pilot with over 4,000 flying hours on more than 40 types of aircraft ranging from propeller and jet transport aircraft to high performance fighters. He was the Senior Test Pilot at RAAF’s Aircraft Research and Development Unit. Mr Whalley is the Chief Executive of Nova Systems, a company which has grown from just two employees in mid 2000 to now employ 130 people nationally and is the largest employer of specialist Aerospace Test and Evaluations specialists in the country.
Mr Whalley was appointed as Chairman of the Defence Teaming Centre Board in 2008.

Mr O'Callaghan is a partner in the Adelaide office of Piper Alderman that specialises in assisting business with intellectual property strategies. He has been a lawyer with the firm for over 20 years. He has a Masters of Intellectual Property Law from Melbourne University. Mr O’Callaghan will lend his assistance to the Defence Teaming Centre's role in encouraging technology development within the Defence Industry. Piper Alderman has its origins in Adelaide in the 1920's and now has significant offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The firm has extensive experience of working with the Defence Industry.
Mr O'Callaghan was appointed as Vice Chairman of the Defence Teaming Centre Board in 2008.

Mr Stuart is Executive Director, Advisory with Ernst & Youngin Adelaide. He has worked within the Financial Services Industry (Australia, New Zealand, UK & Bermuda) for a decade. Roles included- Banking (Retail & Investment), Wealth Management and Direct Portfolio Investment (Forward Foreign Exchange & Equities dealer). Moreover, he has spent the last 10 years pursuing a career in business improvement utilising Lean, Six Sigma and the Theory of Constraints methodologies across various industries/organisations and countries (internal and external consulting).
Mr Stuart joined the Board in May 2009 and was appointed as Treasurer in November 2009.

Mr Darryl Holt is Raytheon Australia's Program Director for Mission Support contracts at the Royal Australian Air Force Base Edinburgh in South Australia. This role holds him responsible for the successful execution and strategic management of the Raytheon Australia Aerospace Operational Support Group (AOSG), the Raytheon Australia Deeper Level Avionics Maintenance Workshop contract, the Hawk Leed in Fighter Radar Emulation Pod Program, the Rotary Wing Flight Test, Training and Search Helicopter Program as well as the Raytheon Australia AP3C Crash Data recorder integration Program. Prior to this role, Mr Holt held the role of the Program Manager for the Aerospace Operational Support Group contract at RAAF Edinburgh, and acquired extensive qualifications in the areas of Project Management and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering.
Mr Holt was appointed to the Board in October 2010.

Ms Karavolos is the Programme Manager, Dynamic Power Management, Saab Systems primarily responsible for business development and project management. Ms Karavolos has over 15 years project experience in Transport, Defence and Energy. She is a highly experienced commercial and project manager who has been involved in the negotiation and discharge of various large projects. Ms Karavolos has worked in both Government and private sector organisations in various capacities allowing her to foster good working relationships with project stakeholders.
Ms Karavolos was appointed to the Board in October 2009.

Andrew joined the RAN Naval College in 1985 before graduating from the Australian Defence Force Academy in 1987 with a BSc. After training and qualification in the surface fleet, Andrew transferred to submarines in 1989 and later commanded two Collins class submarines, HMAS WALLER (1999-2000) and HMAS SHEEAN (2004-05). In between commands, Andrew served on the staff of Commander US Submarine Force Pacific (COMSUBPAC), and in 2006, Andrew joined the staff of Fleet Headquarters as the Fleet Submarine Operations Officer, responsible to the Fleet Commander for the operations of the submarine force. Andrew transferred to the RAN Active Reserve in 2007. After a brief stint in Business Development with Thales, Andrew joined ASC where he is responsible to the CEO for Business Improvement and Transformation. Andrew has an MBA and was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross (CSC) in 2006 for his leadership whilst in command of HMAS SHEEAN.
Mr. Keough was appointed to the Board in May 2011.

Mr Kitto is Head of Strategy & Business Development in the Maritime business unit of BAE Systems Australia. He has over 27 years of experience working in the defence industrial sector, both in engineering and management. Following the formation of BAE Systems Australia in 2000, Mr Kitto was responsible for all business development in the C4ISREW Domain across the much expanded company base. With the acquisition of Tenix Defence in 2008, he commenced his current role with responsibility for the development of strategy and business development covering naval weapon systems, shipbuilding and naval support.
Mr Kitto was appointed to the Board in November 2009.

Pete Madsen is currently the Head of New Business and Strategy Direction at Leed Engineering and Construction. In this role, he is pivotal in being able to position the company for 5-10 years time by identifying and implementing capability development, sector expansion and potential new geography opportunities.
He has gained his experience from previous roles in the corporate world, most recently with EDS Australia in the 1990s and then with BAE Systems Australia in the 2000s.
Prior to this appointment, Pete was the lead Director within Management Consulting for the Advisory Practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Adelaide.
Mr Madsen was appointed to the Board in October 2011.

Mr Mahoney is General Manager of Lockheed Martin Australia Electronic Systems (LMAES) formerly RLM in April 2007 and is responsible for the execution and success of all business activities. Prior to this appointment in the 11 years with LMAES, Mr. Mahoney held the position of Business Unit Manager of RLM Management Ltd Pty, Program Manager, Deputy Project Director and Technical Manager on several of the JORN systems and subsystems. He has over 25 years experience in the Defence environment.
Mr Mahoney was appointed to the Board in November 2009. |

Mr Mincham has a background as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Structural) in the RAAF from 1986-1996, where he gained valuable experience and expertise in fabrication technologies, such as composite materials, sheet metal, machining, welding, heat treatment, and surface-finishing, and in engineering design. Since 1996, when Mr Mincham established Mincham Aviation, he has led the building of the company to what is now considered in the industry to be ‘one’ of Australia’s most highly regarded aviation fabrication, repair and manufacturing centres in the region.

Mr Parrish is the Business Development Director for Priority Engineering Services Pty Ltd and is responsible for the future direction of the group, targeting sales over 12 months out. His achievements include contributing to the Growth of Priority Engineering Services over 19 years through the diversification into automotive, mining, defence, food and beverage, as well as identifying trends and market fluctuations and thus, targeting sectors with growth and sustainablity. In this role he has entered into international and domestic contract negotiations for projects ranging from $100b to $25,000,000 with through life support. Prior to this appointment, Mr Parrish was the Project Manager Sales and gained extensive qualifications in Business, Accounting and fabrication.
Mr. Parrish was appointed to the Board in October 2010.

Mr Williams is Managing Director of J&H Williams, an Adelaide based SME specialising in high precision sheet metal fabricated components. He has over 20 years of experience working in the Australian Industrial sector with over seven years experience in the Australian Defence Industry. Mr Williams also has experience as a commissioned RAEME Officer with the Australian Army Reserve.
Mr Williams gains his experience from developing his 66 year old family business into a modern, dynamic and state of the art facility that delivers value added solutions to the ADF.
Mr Williams was appointed to the Board in October 2011.

Public Sector Directors

A former air-force bomber and fighter aviator with a highly distinguished and broad-ranging career over 32 years, John Teager has served world wide and acquired a wealth of military and defence experience. His last appointment was as Commander of the Air Force group responsible for the provision of mission-critical information to the warfighter. A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, he holds a Masters in Business Administration and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management and the Royal Aeronautical Society. John was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2005 Australia Day Honours List and holds an Australian Active Service medal. He is currently a General Manager for Defence SA.

Professor Andrew Parfitt is the Pro Vice Chancellor and Vice President, Information Technology Engineering and the Environment at the University of South Australia, a position he took up in August 2007. Career highlights include appointment as Professor of Telecommunications and Director of the Institute for Telecommunications Research at the University of South Australia in June 2004. He led the Advanced Radio Frequency Systems program in the Cooperative Research Centre for Satellite Systems (CRCSS) until March 2003 and was then appointed CEO of the CRCSS and concurrently General Manager for Space programs in CTIP.
